Fright Night (1985)

by Steven R Meador

My three favorite vampire movies will always be Fright Night, Bram Stokers DRACULA, and Interview With The Vampire. Mostly because, any of these movies capture the romantic myth of the vampire as well as the savage and often gruesome nature of the children of the night. But if anyone truly wishes to see the darkest side of the vampire myth, then watch the first 30 days of night it captures the truly evil side of what a vampire is (unlike the failure known as the twilight saga).

Editors Note:

Steven, Love, Love Love your picks. I love that you mention 30 Days of Night. That movie was a total gore fest but one of my all time favorite vampire movies. I was pretty young when I first saw Fright Night but even then I thought it was genius. It holds a 93% approval rating at Rotten Tomatoes. No easy feat. Continuing with Bram Stokers Dracula plus Anne Rice's Interview With The Vampire you add two more GREAT vampire films to your list. The cinematography for both those films was simply incredible. I can watch them both over and over (and I have!) One more I would add based on my likes would be Lost Boys. Just can't get enough of that one.

As far as the Twilight Saga, like it or not, it holds it's own place in vampire pop culture by a whole different breed of 'vampire' fans.

Thank you for your submission. Hope you enjoy the site!
