From Dusk Till Dawn Movie

My favorite vampire movie would have to be the From Dusk Till Dawn movie, starring George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino. The first time I saw it I was merely channel surfing and came across a gritty film that looked to be about a kidnapping.
Intrigued, I continued to watch it. I was shocked mid-film when the story took a turn for the supernatural and Salma Hayak turned into a vampire!
As fate would have it, I just happened to be at a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" convention at the time! As a long time fan of the vampire genre, especially Buffy, I was hooked.
The From Dusk Till Dawn movie has a campy yet creepy vibe and suddenly the 'bad guys' weren't really the bad guys anymore, and the audience grew to sympathize with them.
I was even disappointed when Quentin Tarantino's character, Richard, was killed.
Even though the script is about a scary subject matter, the dialogue is still quick and witty and the characters are likeable and quirky.
Richard and Seth (George Clooney) make a great criminal duo and the casting of these actors truly made the film.
The viewer just can't help but root for them. I love that the audience is pretty much in the same boat as the kidnappers.
They have no idea what's in store for them, and neither do we! As shocking as the twist is, the transition from crime thriller to vampire horror was seamless and it still felt like the same movie - only much more fascinating.
I've seen many vampire flicks, and enjoyed a lot of them, but the From Dusk Till Dawn movie takes the cake!
NOTE FROM the VAMPIRE EMPIRE EDITOR
Jennifer, I just had to pop in after getting your submission and add a little note... I too am a HUGE Buffy fan (never been to a convention though, NICE!)
and I really enjoyed reading your recount of first seeing this vampire film.
I too agree the film turning to a vampire movie was seamless and fascinating. This is one of the FUN vampire movies.
Thank you for your review.
