By now, almost everyone has heard of Twilight Saga author Ms. Meyer, the tremendously successful author that took the world by surprise with her fantasy books, the Twilight series. But what exactly is the special ingredient that makes every book almost irresistible to read by young adults these days?
Up until recently, Meyer has had what many may describe as a very normal life. She went to high school in Scottsdale, Arizona where she was awarded a National Merit Scholarship that she used to pay for her education at Brigham Young University in Prove, Utah, where she majored in English. She married her husband, Pancho in her twenties and had three children: Gabe, Seth and Eli. No one could have predicted that this busy stay at home mother of three would become one of the most successful writers of our time in the fantasy genre, writing stories about vampires and werewolves.
Stephanie gave a new meaning to the young adult fantasy genre after she published her first book of the Twilight saga. By doing this she also opened the door for many other contemporary fantasy writers, serving as an inspiration source for these writers.
So what makes Stephanie’s books so successful? Stephanie Meyer actually gets several things right in her books. The most important thing is that she created a story that teens, especially teen girls can relate to. Things like trying to fit in and first love are always on a teenager’s mind and it is also the reason why most of Stephanie Meyer’s readers are teens.
She understands what the readers want and gives it to them. Teenage girls can easily relate to Meyer’s lead character from Twilight, Bella who is an unsure of herself young girl, like so many girls at that age are buy who eventually gets the most desirable boy in her school. Teenage girls reading Meyer’s books may also hope that someday they will be in Bella’s shoes.
But what is truly remarkable about Stephanie Meyer is how she got her inspiration to write all these extraordinary books that have now become a worldwide phenomenon. Some may even call it a revelation as Stephanie Meyer woke one night from having a weird dream which then haunted her until she started writing about it, writing about the very real and unforgettable characters that we now all know and love.
Stephanie’s urge to write her first book was so great that even with having to take care for her three children she still kept writing constantly every night for three months until it was finished. From then on it was only a matter of time until the rest of the world shared her vision.
After writing the books from the Twilight saga, Meyer didn’t stop there and why would she? With such a great success that the Twilight movie adaptations had, the way was opened for more books based on the fantastical and extraordinary. And she is continuing to write these books with unmatched success.
