The Night Child from the Shadows
The scene is quiet;
a thick darkness covers the moment.
With stars and moon above...
She appears, this child of night.
In the safety of the shadows she watches,
As a day child sits on a bench nearby.
Piercing eyes from the shadows feast
upon the day child.
The young man shifts uncomfortably on his seat.
He feels someone watching him,
As his eyes scan the area around him.
All is quiet, except for the rustling of leaves
in the gentle breeze.
Finally, his eyes quickly focus on some
movement in the shadows near;
Piercing eyes catch his gaze,
As his heart pounds in fear.
He feels his limbs become heavy as led,
As a form from the shadows appear.
The day child begins to realize
He cannot move, as if paralyzed by a spider bite.
Her piercing eyes holds him captive;
As he beholds a young woman, a lovely sight.
He tries to struggle to move,
He tries with all his might!
She speaks with words
both sweet and sly.
She hears his heart beat,
As she draws nigh.
Hunger now consumes her intent,
As she embraces this guy.
She whispers in his ear:
"I have hungered for centuries,
And days without end.
I hunger for what never satisfies,
Until I found you.
Let me drink of your sweet wine,
Until my aching heart mends...
For I so hunger!"
