Vampire Poetry 'Staying Alive'

Vampire Poetry 'Staying Alive'

vampire wineEven those futile humans
Have so many phrases about blood
They wonder about our existence
In both fear and wonderment
Without understanding anything

They say that blood is thicker than water
And that family should take priority
But we are not the same
Even our races do not bear the same name

They cannot see
That even though we,
Who drink the blood of their kind to survive,
Do not have as much blood on our hands as they do
Staying Alive

Even those futile humans
Have so many phrases about blood
They wonder about our existence
In both fear and wonderment
Without understanding anything

They say that blood is thicker than water
And that family should take priority
But we are not the same
Even our races do not bear the same name

They cannot see
That even though we,
Who drink the blood of their kind to survive,
Do not have as much blood on our hands as they do

They wage war upon each other
Oblivious to the otherworldly beings that walk beside them at night
They see us as heartless murderers
But how are they better,
When they take the lives of brethren with an idle wave of the hand?

Sharp fangs gently trace along her neck
They pierce her skin and the unforgettable sound
Of hearing your blood sucked away
Is all they can hear

Ah, yes, it is much thicker than water
Even the color alone is sinister
Whether it be spilt by a vampires fangs,
Or a man's sword
But who really understands,
Which race is more at fault?

The name of the victim is irrelevant
Another faceless target, engulfed for a greater purpose
There is nothing to forgive
For we are all just staying alive

They wage war upon each other
Oblivious to the otherworldly beings that walk beside them at night
They see us as heartless murderers
But how are they better,
When they take the lives of brethren with an idle wave of the hand?

Sharp fangs gently trace along her neck
They pierce her skin and the unforgettable sound
Of hearing your blood sucked away
Is all they can hear

Ah, yes, it is much thicker than water
Even the color alone is sinister
Whether it be spilt by a vampire's fangs,
Or a man's sword
But who really understands,
Which race is more at fault?

The name of the victim is irrelevant
Another faceless target, engulfed for a greater purpose
There is nothing to forgive
For we are all just staying alive
