Vampires in the News - Peter Steele, Type O Negative

Vampires in the News - Peter Steele, Type O Negative

While most of us vampire enthusiasts have already heard the news of Peter Steele's, front man for the incredibly gothic and sexy music of Type O Negative, death early Wednesday morning, I just wanted to write this brief dedication to the man who understood the sexual under belly of the vampire world.

Bloody Kisses

Bloody Kisses

Bloody Kisses released in 1993 remains my favorite Type O Negative album of all times. Includes Christian Woman, Black No 1 and Summer Breeze. If you haven't had a chance to check out the sultry sexiness that is Type O, this is the CD to do it.

Peter Steele was born in Brooklyn in 1962 making him 48 years old at the time of his passing.

The first time I heard Type O Negative was shorty after I had been turned on to Anne Rice, who eventually became my favorite author of all time.

By reading Rice, my life had already been forever changed from one who was oblivious to the call of the vampire into a die hard vamp fan.

The first Type O song I heard was Christian Woman. I immediately loved it. "A cross upon her bedroom wall, from grace she will fall..."

'Who was this man' I thought with this hypnotic low voice?

You could almost hear the air being sucked between his fangs when he inhaled between lyrics.

I was hooked.

Christian Woman and Black No 1 became two of my favorite songs. I would listen to Bloody Kisses over and over and absolutely loved their rendition of Seals and Crofts' "Summer Breeze."

I loved watching the opening credits of 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' and having Type O Negatives Summer Breeze come filtering through the speakers. It was just one of those good memory moments.

I had the opportunty to catch the band live at a little heavy metal club in Chicago that I frequented.

The first time a saw Peter Steele on stage I just remember thinking... 'Jesus, he is a living breathing vampire God' The man was 6'7" tall and stood larger than life on stage. An overwhelming power house.

Yes, I became a Peter Steele, Type O Negative fan early on and am saddened by the loss of one of the vampire greats.

Rest In Peace Peter Steele. You will be missed.
